If you require additional
still frames printing from the same video tape then things get a
little more complicated but if you follow these
instructions we should be able to work out which pictures you want.
First select the tape type

ZERO
RESET
It is often the case that the timecode on a tape will have reset
itself if you have filmed something then played it back and then
carried on filming (possibly on a different day).
If so, the timecode will run
from 00h 00m 00s 00f (zero) to where you stopped filming and
then reset itself to zero again ( 00h 00m 00s 00f).
So in theory there could be
2 or more points on the tape which read identically in terms of
timecode. So, we need to know how many times the counter has
reset itself
in order to find the right frame.
There is an easy way to check if this has
happened. In the case of a standard 60 min tape all you do is
put it in the camcorder or player and fully rewind it. Then fast
forward it, all the while keeping an eye on the minute reading
of the timecode, e.g. 00h 25m 34s
12f . If the minutes continue to add up sequentially
1,2,3,4,5,6... (without resetting to zero) identifying your
frames will be easy. If, however, the timecode resets to zero at
any point, just make a note of the minute reading it got to
prior to the reset, then continue fast forwarding to the end of
the tape making note of any further resets to zero. Then detail
this information on the order form and proceed as follows below.
Mini DV & Hi8 Tape
instructions
Step 1 - Fully rewind the
tape.
Step 2 - Advance the tape to the first image and write down (on
the order form) the timecode and the
number
of resets to zero prior to your picture. Repeat this for
subsequent images.
Step 3 - Rewind the tape again and post it to us with the hours, mins, secs, and most importantly the
frame
of each picture you require printing.
Remember -Make a note of the exact frame you require printing.
eg. 00h 23m 15s 10f.
VHS tape instructions
(Same for SVHS, VHS-C)
Note this method will only
work if your VHS deck gives a read out in hours mins and secs,
which most do nowadays (there may not be a frame reading).
Step 1 - Fully rewind the
tape.
Step 2 - Reset the counter to zero - if in doubt eject the tape
and reinsert it which should zero the
clock.
Step 3 - Advance the tape to the first image and write down (on
the order form) the timecode and the
number
of resets to zero prior to your picture. Repeat this for
subsequent images.
Step 4 - Rewind the tape again and post it to us with the
completed order form showing the hours, mins
and
secs of each picture you require printing.
Attaining frame accuracy with VHS is
nearly impossible with standard equipment so a description of
each picture will make things more accurate. Remember we will
email you samples of the images we have identified using your
instructions for confirmation prior to printing.
